About the classic 2048

The 4×4 is 2048 as everyone knows it: the board where the game found its balance between room to manoeuvre and the pressure of running out of empty squares. Building the 2048 tile is the milestone the game is named after.

How it's played

Slide every tile to one side with the arrow keys or a swipe; tiles showing the same number merge and double their value. A new tile appears after each move. You win by creating the 2048 tile, and you can keep going to beat your own record.

Strategy

Pick a corner and keep your highest tile there; move in only two directions most of the time so it never gets dislodged.
Build your tiles in descending order, forming a staircase that leads down to that corner.
Avoid moving towards the side your anchor tile sits on unless you have no other option left.
