The great challenge of the collection: it pairs the comfortable width of a 5×5 with a ceiling so high that it demands endurance. You have room to spare for building, yet the summit of 8192 is far enough up that no advantage goes unused.
How it's played
On the five-by-five board you add matching tiles together without the suffocation of the 4×4, though the winning condition is the punishing 8192 tile. It is a long-breath game that rewards space and persistence in equal measure.
Strategy
- Use the width of the 5×5 to prepare several large tiles at once and chain them only on the final climb.
- Decide early which corner everything will point at and never change it; the road to 8192 is far too long to improvise.
- Be patient with the middling tiles: forcing merges too soon is the commonest way to fall short.
